NEG/ECP Committees are comprised of standing committees and working groups. These committees represent all 11 jurisdictions within the region. Each standing body is designated a lead state and province on each initiative. Both secretariats and co-chairs work with their country’s representatives to execute the determined initiative. Resolutions and reports that are passed at the annual conference establish or recommit committees.
Coordinating Committee Officials
The CCO main purpose for the NEG/ECP is to advance the mission of the conference. The committee is comprised of 1-2 senior officials appointed by a governors and premier.
Transportation and Air Quality Committee
The TAQC is under the direction of the CCO and works to implement resolutions concerning transportation and air quality. The committee is unique with four co-chairs representing the two sectors. Current chairs are from Vermont, Connecticut, Quebec, and New Brunswick.
Northeast International Committee on Energy
The NICE is under the direction of the CCO and works to implement resolutions concerning all matters within the energy sector. The committee is the oldest standing committee within the NEG/ECP forming in 1978. Current chairs are from Massachusetts and Quebec.
Committee on the Environment
The COE is under the direction of the CCO and works to implement resolutions concerning environmental matters. The COE member’s also serve on the Northeast Committee on Environment (NECOE) with the exception of New York. Current chairs are from Vermont and Prince Edward Island.
Climate Change Steering Committee
The CCSC is under the direction of the COE and works to implement resolutions and reports concerning climate change. Most recently from the CCSC is the 2017 Update of the Regional Climate Change Action Plan. Current chairs are from New Hampshire and Quebec.
Ecological Connectivity Working Group
The Ecological Connectivity Working Group is under the direction of the COE and was created in connection to Resolution 40-3. The resolution has a 4 year mandate and will be reporting out on their work at the 44th NEG/ECP Conference. Current chairs are from Vermont and Quebec.
Adaptation Working Group
The Adaptation Working Group is under the direction of the CCSC and the COE and was created in connection to Resolution 42-1. The resolution has a 3 year mandate and will be reporting out on their work at the 45th NEG/ECP Conference. Current chairs are from Maine and New Brunswick.
